Since starting a new job downtown, I wanted to find a comfortable place to grab a light lunch, and The Bistro really has hit the spot.

The Bistro is a bit easy to miss - it has a modest storefront, and looks a bit dark from the outside. When you walk inside though, the business has a nice cozy feeling: wooden chairs and leather accented tables, as well as big comfy lounge chairs and 2-person booths, highlighted by local artwork on the walls. It's a counter-service affair, and you can order coffee and espresso drinks, milkshakes and floats, plus an assortment of soups, sandwiches, salads, sweets and ice cream. They also do a breakfast first thing I the morning for the early risers and office crowd.

The staff is always super friendly, and quick to clean a table or help where they can. Basically everything is made-to-order, so you're going to get fresh food. An average lunch typically runs me about $10, a bit more if I opt for a latte instead of a pop, so the value is great too.

This is definitely a place to check out if you'd like a change of pace from the fast food and pricey restaurants otherwise nearby. I understand they also do catering and they're pretty accommodating.

This is forgotten and hidden gem in downtown Red Deer on little Gaetz! Re find is homemade with care - you can tell! They also have amazing baked goods and coffees too! Try the dirty chai!!

Quaint little coffee shop with a sandwich menu. Fair is light and reasonably priced. Had a chicken walnut wrap and it was tasty without any thick sauces or spreads, real roasted chicken. Not busy during lunch as I think most locals get food to go. Space is open and the atmosphere is comfortable with radio station playing but not too loud. Milkshakes and ice cream available too.
